20 Months

It is so hard to believe that I am 20 months old now. I mean, it feels like I should be so much older. I have been alive - well, practically my whole life! There are so many things I love to do. One is to sing and dance to music. I also love animals - especially our 2 pets, Mindy and Blacky. It turns out that Mindy is starting to like me a little bit more, but she is still persnickety. Mommy says it's because she's a crotchety old lady, disguised as a cat. Of course, Mommy also says that if she keeps up with her cranky attitude, she just might lose her first digits. OUCH! I think I'd straighten up if I were her. I am also learning my ABCs. I don't speak real well yet, so sometimes it is easier for me to say the sound the letter makes instead of the letter name. But, I am learning. Mommy and Daddy say that I seem to be learning just as quickly as Sissy - I just don't talk as much - but then again, who does? Geesh.

Here is a video clip of me showing off. There is also a little clip that shows how super adorable and sweet I am to our cat and how mean she is to me. I'm such a victim!

Still Sick

Yes, you read that right - our family is still sick. Dad is feeling much better and I am a little bit better (my belly still hurts and I have a yucky cough), but now Mom and E2 are not feeling so well. There was still a lot of activity in the middle of the night. I accidentally woke E2 up a couple of times when I couldn't stop coughing and one time Mom came in and got E2 for a bit. She must have had a fever and needed medicine. Mom said Dad took good care of her, too. I guess she had a fever like the rest of us.

I'll tell you what - Mom seems mad. Mad at these viruses. She said she she is going to start bleaching everyting we touch and washing our sheets daily. She is determined to not be sick any more - and I can't blame her. I am sick of being sick, too.

I hope you are able to stay healthy. Remember - vitamins, water and rest - and a little prayer doesn't hurt either, since we all know Who is really in control. Our job is just to be thankful. Sometimes, that's really hard to do.

Feels like spring

We had such a lovely day playing outside yesterday! God brought us just a sneak peek of spring, and we soaked it up! I’m not sure if it helped or hurt, though. It might make it even harder if it turns cold again – and you know we are supposed to be thankful or ALL things. That’s tough! It’s especially tough to be thankful for yet another virus that is attacking my body. I think I must have taken the virus from Daddy (you know he is feeling better and now I am sick). I’m hoping to pass it off to Mommy so that I can feel better. I heard her cough in the kitchen, so I think my plan is working.

Oh, back to the lovely spring day. We just played on the deck because Mom said it was probably too muddy in the yard. She shoveled off the last of the snow / ice and we had such a fun time playing. We blew bubbles and playing the recorder for everyone to enjoy (I’m pretty good if I do say so myself). Here are some pictures of us enjoying the sunshine and warmer temps. XOXO E1

Even Blacky decided to come out of hibernation to enjoy the warmer weather! Now THAT'S a miracle!

Valentine's Day

We had such a great a great Valentine’s Day – did you? It started a little early for our family – at least the girls, Daddy is sick. Poor Daddy. On Sunday, right after church, we made a bunch of Valentines to take to the nursing home. Our friends made some to donate as well, but they weren’t able to join us. After we made a whole bunch of Valentines we went to the nursing home to share the love of Jesus with the people who live there. It was so wonderful! Some of the people were a little shy, but some were too happy to hide their feelings. They wanted kisses and hugs. There were a couple of older women that probably really missed their grandkids because they really wanted to snuggle close.  One of the older gentlemen was so proud of the valentine, that he put it right up on his door. Then, when we were further down the hallway, he came up and gave both me and E2 a dollar – EACH! Mom tried to give it back to him and said that wasn’t why we were there, but he insisted she take it home and put it in our piggy banks. You know the kicker for that? E2 doesn’t have a piggy bank yet, so the money’s all in mine – ha ha!!

Then on the actual Valentine’s day, I woke up to a handmade card from Mommy, some new nail polish and some sweetheart candies. Fantastic! It was so special that I told Mom that I’d love her forever and ever if she promised not to throw the card away. She put it in my ‘special box’ for safe keeping. For dessert that night, she even made a heart shaped apple / berry crisp a la mode. DEE-licious!! Daddy even had a few surprises for us. He got me some Twizzlers and a card and E2 got a new duckie for the bath. Then we settled in and watched the movie UP. Mom suggested it since it is about love. We laughed and laughed!

What a great day! We are so lucky to have a Dad and Mom who love us so much!
XOXO

Ice, Ice Baby!

Wow - there is a lot of ice outside today. Thankfully, God is in control and so far, He has kept our power on. Mom and Dad are a little nervous about it. I am too now that I realize I won't be able to play Wii without power. Please keep our power on, please.

But, the ice is good for one thing...sledding! We have already been out twice today. Poor E2 wants to keep coming out, but she hates the ice coming down in her face (not to mention the snot that freezes on her nose). Her little cheeks stay red for a long time after we are inside. But she still cries to go back outside.

Here is a video of me and Dad going down the hill. Mom says I look like a penguin when I put my feet out to "push" us farther.

We pray that you are staying warm, inside and that your power stays on.

Love to all

Friends

Ok, so Daddy and Mommy had a meeting at church last night and our good friends Kate and Kyle (and their Daddy & Mommy) came over to play. It was wonderful – kind of like a party! We got to show them each and every toy. I even tried to show them how I can wash my hands all by myself. Kate’s Mommy wasn’t very interested in seeing me brush my teeth. Maybe she’s seen that trick before? Kyle obviously thought I was a special girl because he was hugging and petting on me. I know – I’m adorable. Sissy tells me all the time. We even got to have some cookies that Mommy made. What a great night! To top it all off, I thought I’d write an inspirational message on the wall – kind of like how Mommy paints on the wall. Kyle’s Daddy tried to wipe it off, but it is such a wonderful message that God didn’t allow it to come off. After everyone left – I wasn’t ready for the party to end, so I stayed up playing with Penny in bed for about another hour. I was just so super excited to have friends over again!!

I hope Mommy and Daddy have more meetings!

PS. I think Mommy has a plan to paint over my message. I am praying that it shows through each and every coat of Bodacious Bubble Bath pink.

I love Wednesdays!

Ok, so I am a little sad that I don't get to go with Daddy & Sissy. They always do look very excited to rush off to Wednesday Warriors (Click here for more info), but it turns out, it is a fantastic time at home! I get to run around and play with all the toys by myself, and that doesn't happen very often. Tonight, Mommy was a little busy doing the dishes, so I rushed off to our bedroom. I "called her in" a couple times by clicking the little green button by Sissy's bed. It turns out, when you click it, it starts beeping and that always gets her attention. After doing that a couple times, I settled down into Sissy's bed, read some books, played with her bedtime friends, watched her birdies, turned on the TV (I think it was the weather channel because it looked like snow to me and I heard Mommy say it was gonna snow tomorrow)....I had a fantastic time! Mommy came in and started a video for me, but I quickly removed that and brought the video to her in the kitchen. She wasn't impressed. So, I love Wednesdays. I get Mommy and all our toys to myself. It's wonderful!!

Potty time anyone?

Ok, so I didn't get it at first (and I'm still not sure I do), but Mommy has been letting me sit on the potty at least once a day. There is this cute little donut seat that she puts on and it is nice and comfy (and keeps me from getting my bum wet) and then we talk, laugh, play, read....all kinds of things. It is a great time that I get to spend with my Mommy. I guess it is her way of making some good quality time for just us. However, big Sissy does get a little jealous and usually ends up knocking on the door and wanting to join in the fun. So, since Mommy seems to be really happy when I point to the bathroom and want to sit there for a while, I have started to initiate this more often. Now every time I pass by the bathroom, I think it is a great idea to just pop a squat. I can tell that Mommy is trying to be supportive, but she is hesitant about spending the entire day in the bathroom.

There is something strange that happens. Sometimes when I'm sitting there, I get an overwhelming urge to go pee pee. I kind of get panicked and quickly tell Mommy that I'm "all done" and try to hop off. Thankfully, I haven't actually gone pee pee in that potty yet. I'm sure Mommy would be super upset if I did that. I know she works hard to keep that potty nice and clean. That last thing she'd want is for me to pee in it. It was a close one tonight -- I nearly POOPED in the potty! Man oh man, she'd have had steam coming out her ears for sure if I had done that! Whew!

Here is a picture of me sitting on the potty. Mommy took this. Next time she is in there reading a book, I'm gonna take a picture of her and post it on the internet. giggle.

Now that I'm 18 months

Now that I am 18 months, I am experiencing more and more things. I have always been a book lover - and now I am sharing this love with Mindy (our cat). I think now that I am 18 months, she isn't quite as afraid of me (she is the reason they came up with the phrase, "scaredy cat"). I guess the site of me toddling over - and not very steady on my feet - can give a cat a little anxiety. Well, now she comes up to me and loves on me all the time! She must think I am her bestest friend (and it makes me SO happy!). Now I am trying to share all my favorites with her, including the books. Here are a couple pictures of me showing her a book. I think it must be an acquired taste because she didn't seem interested.

I am also learning how to use Sissy's "laptop". First of all, I am SO amazed that Mommy let me play with it. I am always so jealous of everyone using their own computers and games (they have computers, Wii, leapster, and even Uno (which is super cool)), so Mommy is hooking me up with my own system. She's the best! My favorite thing is to turn it off and on. :)

Sick again

So we went to the doctor today (that's a 3 hour process) to find out that I am sick again with another stinkin' virus. I don't know what these virus things are, but I wish they'd leave me alone! I have had a fever and a cough - and the worst part - I'm not hungry! I don't like anything to come between me and food! The doc said I was wheezing but that I didn't have pneumonia - thank goodness! So, now we just wait and pray that it passes quickly. I have a severe case of cabin fever so I pray it passes VERY quickly! Here is a picture of me all bundled up when my fever spiked - I was so cold I was shivering, but Mommy said my head was on fire. These viruses are mean things!
